		<description>Ah !! pointing at the Belgians... So it was the evil Belgians who appointed Mobutu and ran the Congo by diktat from Brussels. And from whom do you think the Belgians got their orders? It&#039;s all too easy to keep Washington out of the scope on this one. Mobutu wasn&#039;t &quot;our&quot; man, he was CIA, just like his brother in law, Holden Roberto. Everybody in Africa knows that. What I also know is that the UN troops in the Congo are completely distrusted and that the older generations of Congolese do not want French, Pakistani, Hindi, Bulgarian peacekeeping forces. They want &quot;les belges&quot;! 
The funny thing is, Belgium didn&#039;t even want the place in 1905, when Leopold II started pushing the Belgian parliament to accept his former &quot;private property&quot; (obtained at the conference of Berlin in 1888) as a colony, after the scandals of gruesome abuse became known. He had to bribe members of parliament to accept it !!!  
As for paternalism: was Belgian paternalism in essence any different from say British or French paternalism ?
